CoachingAbout six months ago, our Director of Product, Patrick Goodman gave an introduction of our product to a judging panel of a local civic organization working to increase the communities ratio of advanced degree completion. The theme to the talk was “coaching”.  As a former football  player, Patrick shared, what I believe to be the “secret sauce” of the Red e App platform … connection.

Most people, when being introduced to a new “tech” are looking for the fireworks of innovation and pizazz. However, people should be looking for usability. And more importantly the effortlessness and ease at which the tech blends into your behavior and habits in your daily life. It shouldn’t take over your life – it (tech) should enhance and support everyday tasks.

The beauty of Patrick’s introduction was about coaching and the connection that takes place between individuals working toward common goals. Sure people who play sports get it ALL the time. Coaching is what teachers do everyday in mentoring students, what people do to train pets, it’s how we raise our children. Coaching is fundamental to development. If executed correctly and consistently, coaching creates respect between parties and enhances the quality of our lives, activities, hobbies, and jobs and just simply makes us better.

Coaching is constant touch, guidance, tips, pointers, and road signs to keep people focused, on track and connected. Coaching leads to a connection, connection leads to trust, and trust leads to engagement.

Make no mistake, Red e App is a “whiz bang” mobile platform and changes the landscape for hourly and mobile worker engagement in many CEO approved ways. But it’s not about the tech. It’s what people can do to connect to a workforce that is in the midst of dramatic change brought about by mobile.

The coaching that Red e App enables – privately, securely and in real time with your teams (workers) – makes all functional areas stronger, more effective, more efficient and creates a more evolved and developed teams, as well as individual contributors.

So, don’t always be searching for the “sizzle” when the steak is sitting right there on the plate in front of you. Eat up!
