[UPDATE: View the Wearable Mobile Tech Storify  for a recap of the live Q&A]

Join us Wednesday, June 11th as we chat about the state of wearable/ingestible tech and the mobile health revolution.

Companies see something big on the horizon in wearable technology. Established companies are investing: Google has Google Glass, Samsung has one of the most advanced smart watches on the market, and all signs point toward Apple joining in.

New companies are jumping into the fray as well: Fitbit has become a leader in the wearable tech market, Pebble was able to crowdfund millions and is a thriving company now, and Misfit is keeping things fashionable with Shine.

Wearable tech is poised to explode according to IDC research. In 2014 around 19 million wearable computing devices will ship. In 2018, that number is expected to be nearly 112 million. So who will win? Only time will tell.

On the more distant horizon, and perhaps more controversially, we have ingestible and implantable tech possibilities. While this market is primarily being explored by the medical community, some sensors already have FDA approval and I imagine the plethora of applications for implantable sensors will make it a hot market.

Some current applications of implantable sensors include simple things like blood health and blood pressure monitoring, while other more advanced brain sensors seek to help people with severe paralysis control devices with their thoughts. Ingestible sensor chips, like camera pills, can pass through your digestive tract and take pictures to help doctors determine your internal health, and could perhaps change the way colonoscopies are done in the future.

So what will it take for a wearable tech company to win your heart (rate)? Are you comfortable with the idea of ingestible/implantable tech or do you think that opens up too many doors for big brother to keep an eye on you?

Join us Wednesday, June 11th from 9-10pm ET as we chat about the state of wearable/ingestible tech and the mobile health revolution. Topics will include which wearables are currently the best, why there aren’t more fashion forward options, and your comfort level with turning over intimate data to a company. What wearable do you currently use? We’d love to hear about it!
