Florida-based Seminole Gaming is finding that when you bet on your employees, everyone wins.
On June 22, the hotel and casino company received honors for its innovative, mobile-focused approach to internal communications. Seminole Gaming took home the Best Use of Technology Award, given during the 2016 Employee Engagement Summit in Chicago.
“We’re excited to be recognized for using technology to build a culture of open and authentic, two-way communication,”
The mobile channel — and the cornerstone of Seminole Gaming’s employee communications strategy — is Red e App, an internal communications platform specifically designed for the non-desk and hourly workforce.
By joining Seminole Gaming’s private Red e App network, employees can access company news, view documents, and exchange shifts with their peers. Managers can send messages to targeted groups or categories of employees (i.e., table games, poker dealers, bartenders). Administrators like Thomas get data and insights on the content that is resonating with their team(s) and how they can improve their communication strategy.
“Red e App has helped us bridge the communication gap for the 75% of our workforce that is not connected to company email. We saw significant improvements in our employee engagement scores in this year’s survey as a direct result of improved communications, as well as significant savings through a reduction of printing and mailing information.”
The Best Use of Technology in Employee Engagement award recognizes use of technology to drive engagement. Key selection criteria include the organization’s ability to quantify the measureable impact of the technology on engagement and how the organization has gained employee uptake.
