In the presence of greatness

We felt a sense of greatness from the moment we stepped foot inside our new office space. Our CEO, Jonathan Erwin, toured the building while the roof was being replaced and brick walls were still covered in plaster. From his first tour of the building, he knew it would be a great space for our start-up team to collaborate and feel inspired.

Legend was that Muhammad Ali, born Cassius Clay in 1942 in Louisville, Kentucky, once trained in our building when it was a gym in the 1950’s and 1960’s. The rumors were proved true when a friend pulled the Courier Journal archives for us from April of 1961. The photo below captures Cassius Clay training in Bud Bruner’s Gym for his upcoming bout with LaMar Clark.

Ali is well known for his quotes. Two of our favorites are, “The man who has no imagination has no wings.” and “Champions aren’t made in the gyms. Champions are made from something they have deep inside them: a desire, a dream, a vision.”

Our team truly feels we are in the presence of greatness. A portion of our wood flooring is original and most likely has some Ali sweat stains. We are inspired on a daily basis by Ali’s tenacity and confidence.
