#MobileChat No. 123 with Emre Kelly of Florida Today

Florida todayWhile many newspapers have floundered over the last ten years, Florida Today, a daily newspaper covering news, sports and entertainment on the Space Coast, has flourished. It is no mystery that more and more people are reading news on their smartphones every day, and fewer people are reading physical newspapers anymore. So I have my suspicions that part of their success is due to the fact that they have a free mobile app (FLORIDA TODAY in the app store), a mobile site, and a nice tablet/desktop site.

FLORIDA TODAY is located in Melbourne, FL, and their parent company is Gannett, which also owns USA Today. On #MobileChat, we will be joined by  Emre Kelly,  a digital producer/social media specialist at FLORIDA TODAY, and we will also see some input thrown in by entertainment reporter, Nerdgirl columnist, and frequent #MobileChat attendee Jennifer Sangalang. We will talk about things like the shift to mobile in the news industry, what content drives the most traffic to different devices , and why their mobile app is growing so quickly.

Join us Wednesday, February 11th from 9-10pm ET via #MobileChat on Twitter as we do live Q/A with Emre and Jennifer of FLORIDA TODAY to talk about mobile media. FLORIDA TODAY also happens to be most known for their space coverage, so you might even learn something about the last frontier if you tune in.

Look forward to chatting – Ryson Walden
