#MobileChat No. 124: Outsmart the weather

Stay inside for this #MobileChat

[UPDATE: View the Weather Storify at the bottom of this page for a recap of the live Q&A.]

Like much of the eastern United States, we have been snowed in the last couple of days. I know I’ve been snowed in because I looked at my weather app, and it told me that not only was I snowed in, but that the windchill is 1 degree. I have yet to go outside and verify, and I don’t need to because mobile technology is the best. I’m joking of course, but it is rooted in reality. Twice a day I get a push notification just in case something has changed between the other 5 times I have checked the weather.

Mobile technology can give us instant updates and information about the weather outside, whether it is extremely bad or extremely good. When things get bad, you can see closures and what roads have been cleared from your phone. When things are good, you can check your phone to see where the closest restaurant with a patio is. It’s a win-win when it comes to getting the best information as quickly as possible.

To make sure we aren’t missing out on pertinent information, we are going to discuss weather apps and the apps you use depending on the weather. Kind of like a flow chart:

Weather good? –> Yelp search “patio”

Weather bad? –> Papa John’s app

Join us Wednesday, February 18th from 9-10pm ET via #MobileChat on Twitter as we discuss how to use mobile technology to stay on top of the weather.

Look forward to chatting – Ryson Walden
