Retail and healthcare seek mobility

The focus on mobility has intensified in key industry sectors within the US, particularly in healthcare and retail, two sectors that rival each other in size and influence, according to President Clinton’s recent talk at the National Retail Federation’s Big Show in New York City.

Retail is one of America’s largest private employers, supporting one out of every four jobs and one-fifth of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP). To reinforce the strength and passion of the retail industry, NRF is hosting a video contest to let retail employees tell their stories for a chance at up to $25,000.

In a white paper by the National Retail Federation, entitled, “Retail Powers the US Economy,”  the point is made that it is not just retail workers whose jobs depend on a vibrant retail industry, but also those in construction, manufacturing, and transportation, for example. The same could be said of the healthcare industry.  By contrast, the National Health Expenditure (NHE) grew 4.0% to $2.5 trillion in 2009, or $8,086 per person, and accounted for 17.6% of GDP.

The retail and healthcare industries are increasingly looking at more web-based and cloud-centric ways to communicate with their audiences, from management to end client. And, sometimes it is the one-store shop that is willing to be the innovator on the block, to try a new method of messaging, such as  Red e App.

In fact, 95% of all retailers operate just one location. The overwhelming majority of retailers are small business owners, with more than half of all retail firms employing fewer than five workers. For small business owners, a traditional mobile solution is difficult to implement—the sheer cost of a $20,000+ expenditure to ramp up on a mobile platform for marketing, operations, or even customer service can be daunting.

Red e App is a mobile platform available to any business, big or small, that saves the business time and money (have a mobile presence in just 30 minutes), plugs into the business’s key components of a website and social media, offers location information and store hours, and the ability to promote seasonal items and community involvement projects.

The Red e App free beta program is underway – now is the time to get your feet wet in mobile marketing via a trial opportunity.
