There are hundreds of ways to communicate, but one method of communication reigns above the rest: face to face.
We do interviews face to face, go on dates face to face, Presidential debates are even done face to face.
Why? Because it is the most effective and efficient form of communication. You get to experience both the message one is trying to convey, and the non verbal nuances such as facial expression that can sometimes say more than words. You also understand context which is an important factor in collaboration.
- Communicating via text: You get the message, but miss the tone of voice.
- Communicating over the phone: You can detect tone of voice, but you still miss expression and body language.
- Communicating through a video stream: This seems to solve these problems, but that is not always an option. Time zones, schedules that do not line up, and general business can make this inconvenient or impossible.
