On Sunday November 10th, Amee Kent (Red e App Marketing Director) and I finished the Louisville Sports Commission half marathon. I had never run a half marathon before and knew I wanted (read, needed) someone to help me train for the race and to encourage me while running it.
Why did I want to run a half marathon? I had never run that far before and wanted to push myself.
I like the motto: “You’ll regret the things you didn’t do more than the ones you did”.
Do I regret running the race? Not a chance. The weather was great (mid 50s and sunny), the fall foliage was amazing, and I honestly thought about walking the last few miles because I was tired and sore BUT thankfully, I wasn’t running alone and Amee kept cheering me on to finish strong. The fact that I had someone right beside me chatting with me and laughing at my silly jokes while running was a tremendous motivation to just keep going.
Will I run another half marathon? Yup! I already put the Kentucky Derby miniMarathon on my calendar for next year and I’m inviting other members of team Red e App to join me. Why? I like a challenge and love training and working as a team.
I’ve learned over the course of the past few years at Red e App that I’m at my best when innovating, building, and working with a team. Even now as I write this blog post, I’m simultaneously working with our Engagement team (Erin and Hannah) to create a private mobile network for a new client filled with specific Content and Files that will make this new client more efficient and effective for internal communication.
