What do you get when you gather a room full of entrepreneurs, biz dev folks, designers and developers and then blend for 54 hours? Startup Weekend. And a great one was served up in Louisville last weekend.
Red e App was one of the official sponsors because well, we love innovative people and support entrepreneurial endeavors, especially in our own city.
Startup Weekend is a fast paced sprint from idea to customer validation to product creation and then a final pitch. All this happens in 54 hours. Crazy? Yes. Fun? Absolutely.
We didn’t just support Start Weekend Louisville by sponsoring it. We sent 3 of our own to the event. Our founder, Jonathan Erwin, was a mentor for the weekend to provide advice and coaching to the teams. We also joined one of the teams. Our mobile app developer, Jamie Willis, and I worked on a team that explored a non-profit idea. The company was called Give a RAC (Random Acts of Compassion).
Give a RAC didn’t place in the top 3 with the judges but it was still a rewarding experience. For me personally, I loved being surrounded by other technology and entrepreneurial minds that love to build new products and relentlessly pursue better and more efficient ways of doing things.
Congratulations to all the winners and now it’s time for us to get back to creating new ideas for our clients and customers in the secure mobile communication space. Innovation never sleeps.
